Value Added Tax (VAT) is an indirect tax applied to all goods and services that are bought and sold by businesses, with a few exceptions. In Saudi Arabia, VAT was introduced on January 1, 2018, at an initial rate of 5%.
On July 1, 2020, as part of the government's response to the economic impact of the pandemic and to support the national budget, the VAT rate was tripled to 15%.
